Thinking of Mothers: As We Approach Mother’s Day!

Thinking of Mothers: As We Approach Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day and my birthday can fall on the same day.

I both loved and hated that I had to share my birthday with my mother. When I was younger, I wanted all the attention to myself, but as it grew older, I realized what a blessing it was to be able to share my birthday while celebrating with my mother.

My dad was in the military and was gone quite a bit, so my mom and I hung out a lot. We had a great relationship as I got older but slightly tumultuous when I was a teenager. My mom was British and I thought I always knew things better than she did until I was older and realized that I didn’t!

I am lucky enough to be the mom of twins. It’s a very special club to be in. They both are grown now and living in different states.

I can’t tell you how much it pains me physically to not have them near me. They were both just home this past weekend and I was in heaven. Selfishly, I would like to have them all to myself, but I do have to share them with their friends. They have a “twin” relationship that makes me so happy!

Having twins is a different kind of experience from what I’ve gathered. The three of us were like the Three Musketeers. Some of my fondest memories were when it was just the three of us. We traveled around the world together, watched meteor showers in the middle of the night all bundled up, and we cook great meals together.

I have had my retail shop before my twins were born. They grew up running around the shop, getting into all kinds of mischief. When I couldn’t find them, I’d go into the back storage room and see them using the peanut dispenser with glee as it fell all over the floor.

I sadly can not share my birthday / Mother’s Day with my mom any longer, but I know she is looking down at me and sending birthday wishes to me and love from heaven!

I wish all of you mothers a very happy day! Enjoy all the moments with family. Let yourself be pampered!

Remember to Live Beautifully

Xx, Elizabeth
