A friend of mine recently sent me an article from Elle Decor written by Elissa Lipsky Karasz. The piece explored the importance of being with people in real life, how genuine connection happens when we gather, and how creativity sparks through shared experiences.
It struck me how vital it is to see people in real life (IRL). It changes your perspective and ignites inspiration. As one line from the article beautifully put it, “Everyone was thinking about what design can do and what they can do with it.”
Last week I reopened my interior design shop, Elizabeth Lamont, in the Pacific Palisades after ten and a half months of being closed. It felt incredible to have my entire team together, opening boxes, cleaning shelves, and organizing displays. There’s truly nothing like the conversations and laughter that happen when you’re all in the same space.
There was a time when I considered moving the shop to another location. I toured several spaces, even back on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica where my business began. But something in me couldn’t leave the Palisades; it felt like I’d be abandoning our town.
It’s been a long and challenging journey, but I’m happy to say I stayed, and the shop looks better than ever. We’ve brought in new vendors while keeping our classics like the Elizabeth Lamont Signature scented candle. We’ve added new upholstered pieces so that when the time is right, friends and neighbors can sit, feel, and imagine how these pieces will live in their own homes.
We’re working hard to bring our town back to life, and this reopening is just the first step. I’ve refreshed the layout by moving the counter, adding a stunning media cabinet, and giving the store a new feel. Our holiday décor will arrive in mid-November, so if you need to replace anything that’s been lost, we’re here to help.
I hope you’ll stop by and experience in real life how the store feels again, whether it’s picking up a Cantaria mug or a Simon Pearce wine glass. There’s no substitute for the tactile joy of shopping in person and knowing that what you see has been personally curated by me with care and thought.
I hope you’re as happy to have us back as I am.
Most importantly, I’ve loved seeing my friends, customers, and design clients again. Our interior design studio is fully up and running, and we’ve been helping clients replace smoke-damaged furnishings and plan new spaces. We’re expanding our fabric library with clean, OEKO-TEX-certified textiles to support healthy, non-toxic homes.
I’m also rebuilding and discovering incredible innovations in clean home design that I’m excited to share. Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post dedicated to clean home building.
If you’re driving through the Palisades, please stop by. We’re currently open and we’ll be extending hours as the holidays approach. The best part is that parking on Sunset is free, no meters.
Store Hours: Thursday through Saturday, 11 AM to 5 PM
Address: 15231 Sunset Blvd, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272
Store Number: (310) 230-0003
Hope to see you soon, and remember to live beautifully.
