A Labor Day Reset: Home, Family, and Fresh Beginnings
Happy Labor Day weekend!
I’ve moved camp to my home in Montana. I haven’t been here all year since the fires, and it feels so strange to be surrounded by my things again—I almost feel like I’m in a dream!
I’m spending much-needed time with my children, which is so healing and exciting. My cousins are coming too, so it’s going to be a fun, relaxing week.
I’m also getting the house organized. Fall always feels like the right time to get serious about tidying up. I’ve been going through all my Casafina dinnerware, checking that I have enough serving platters and utensils, napkins, and tablecloths ready for Thanksgiving. It’s never too early! This way, when I come back in November, everything will be set and waiting.
What I’m Doing in My Garden
If you can believe it, we recently had a big fire here in Montana, very close to us. Our ranch is okay, but nearby properties suffered major land damage. It was a red-flag day, and a spark from construction ignited the dry grass.
Harry was out there fighting the fire, and I have to say how proud I am of him! Now we’re making sure all sprinkler systems are working (please do the same for your homes as we head into high fire season), and we’re clearing foliage to create defensible space around structures.
We’re also considering bringing in goats to eat the overgrown grass—has anyone tried that? I’d love advice!
On a lighter note, I’ve been cutting the last of the flowering branches to bring some beautiful fall color indoors. This new Mariposa vase (pimple glass—add link) looks gorgeous on my entry table.
What I’m Doing in My Shop
We’re so excited to wish Lizzy and Leilani a happy and healthy journey into motherhood! They’ll be taking some time off to welcome a baby girl and a baby boy (I’ll let you guess who’s having which!). We wish them the very best of luck.
We’re also welcoming new staff to the team, and I can’t wait to introduce them to you soon!
What I’m Watching/Reading
-
Watching: The US Open. I love seeing these incredible athletes work with such dedication—it’s truly inspiring. I used to go when I was a kid, and if you’re in the area, I highly recommend it.
-
Reading: The latest Daniel Silva novel about the Vatican. It’s a smart, gripping mystery, beautifully written. My beach reads are behind me, and I’m ready for some real intrigue! (add links)
What’s in My Cart / What I’m Cooking
In Montana, I love to keep meals simple and fast since we’re always on the go. Mediterranean food is a favorite, and I’ve been cooking a lot from this fantastic cookbook—it’s full of recipes that can easily become part of your routine.

Products I Love
Being back in Montana, nothing feels better than wrapping up in a cozy throw on these chilly evenings. I’m especially loving my Kashwére throws—they’re soft, washable (a must when the dogs snuggle up with me), and so pretty. The nights are cooling down everywhere, so now’s the perfect time to get one.

Friday Gift Idea / Non-Toxic Home
Part of my mission is helping people create healthier, non-toxic homes—starting in the kitchen. I feel strongly about replacing Teflon-coated pots and pans with safer alternatives.
One of my favorite companies, Our Place, makes ceramic cookware that’s nonstick, easy to clean, and available in gorgeous colors. They truly cook like a dream! We don’t carry them in the shop (yet!), but I’m hoping we will by spring.
